Vascular lesions include various types of conditions such as angiomas, rosacea, varicosities (varicose veins …), telangiectasia, couperosis or erythrosis.
Cutaneous vascular lesions are common and may be related to various factors such as age, sun damage or pregnancy. The reason is a poor local organization of our venous network. Not dangerous in most cases, these lesions are removed for purely aesthetic purposes, especially when they are visible and located on open areas, such as legs, face or décolleté.
Laser devices are an indispensable treatment option for removing and reducing vascular problems safely and effectively.
The laser emits a light beam that turns into heat to selectively destroy the vessels involved in the lesion. This non-invasive technique is by far the safest and most effective available to this date.
Our Alfa Laser Centers have the latest generation of vascular laser and the new patented technology: Target Creation Technology™.
The principle of this method is to use simultaneously on the vessel the action of two distinct wavelengths. The first wavelength creates a specific target (small areas of coagulated blood) for the second.
The types of vascular lesions that can be treated include:
There are 4 big groups:
An angioma refers to a benign malformation with the shape and structure of the vessels. In most of the cases, its origin and evolution is complicated to determine.
The different types of cutaneous angiomas are:
Stellar angiomas are mostly located on the face and hands, also can disappear temporarily under the pressure of the finger.
Ruby angiomas, located on the trunk and limbs form small bright red grains that do not disappear under the pressure of the finger.
Planar angiomas or port-wine stains are venous malformations present from birth, of very variable sizes and hues.
For all forms of angioma, the use of the laser is recommended, including for children.
Indeed, for about last ten years, the doctors have at their disposal vascular lasers which are very effective to remove the angiomas whatever the age of the patient is.
Varicosities are dilated veins that are permanently visible through the epidermis. Variable in diameter and depth, they can present a blue color (deep varicosities) or a red color (superficial veins). They usually show a poor venous return.
The treatment of varicosities is performed by laser. The light generated by it is absorbed by the hemoglobin of the blood in order to close these visible vessels by selective photocoagulation.
Telangiectasias are dilatations of small blood vessels under the surface of the skin, appearing mainly on the face. The most frequent locations are the wings of the nose, the cheeks and the chin.
The treatment of telangiectasia is purely aesthetic and based on the local destruction of vessels with a vascular laser.
Rosacea is a chronic skin disease that causes redness; today, more than 40 million people worldwide have rosacea.
This chronic skin disorder often confused with sunburn has redness, visible blood vessels and often worsens with time. Couperosis is mainly located on the cheeks, chin, forehead and nose. Light skin is the most affected and tends to blush easily and have a permanent pink look.
There are two forms of rosacea:
The true rosacea, recognizable by the end path of the vessels visible to the naked eye on the surface of the skin.
Erythrosis characterized by diffuse redness of the epidermis. The redness is due to superficial micro-vessels that color the skin with the blood that we see by transparency.
The etiologies of rosacea are varied and are not well known, we know that its appearance is multifactorial. Thus, pollution, poor circulation, alcohol abuse, smoking can affect their appearance and development.
The laser treatment of vascular rosacea is simple and secure. The light sent by the laser will coagulate the vessel by heating blood hemoglobin, thus eliminating the vessels and slow down the evolution of this pathology.
